Alicanto Labs has been investigating methods to optimize the value of strategic mining plans for more than 10 years. Here a little more about our history.

A native of Antofagasta, Chile, the Alicanto is a bird that eats gold and silver. It has wings that shine bright in the night - a zephyr with golden sparkles, if its latest snack was gold, or, of silvery color, if it was only silver. It is known that after enjoying lavish mineral cocktails, this bird cannot fly. If you see this animal you should be cautious, because it is very jealous and can fold its formidable wings. It can lead you to a prosperous destination, if you have a noble soul, or to ruin and confusion -if your soul is full of greed or malice.

Our vision is to be leaders in service, tools and knowledge for the resolution of strategic mining plans. That is why we are in a process of continuous improvement. Investigating new methods, algorithms and processes to improve our times and problem solving capacity. In this way, we maintain an excellent service to our clients.

In Alicanto Labs our top core values are commitment to customers and excellence. We are always worried about providing good service to our customers. That is why our activities are also lead by the values of research, integrity, passion, quality, adaptability and proffessionalism. Last, but not least important: Teamwork. Thanks to our team's skills and sinergies is that we can provide you quality service and cutting-edge technology.

Alicanto Labs began to be formed more than 10 years ago from the work of a group of researchers from the Adolfo Ibáñez University (UAI). With the support of UAI, this laboratory researched and developed methodologies and software aimed at solving mining planning problems. For this, they also accounted with the support of government subsidies. Recently they completed the FONDEF IT16M10006 project, in which an optimization tool (Alicanto Scheduler) was developed for pit planning. Nowadays, this tool is being used by several mining companies (Newmont Mining, Barrick Gold, Gold Corp, VALE, CODELCO). They have also signed a distribution agreement with the company DESWIK, who will soon commercialize this tool with a graphical interface, in a software called DESWIK.GO. Thanks to the UAI support and hard work of the researchers, the spin-off Alicanto Labs could be born.

We are a consulting and software development firm specialized in scheduling optimization technologies (algorithms, implementations) for project management in strategic mine planning. Since our foundation, the company has had a team of first-rate developers, made up of civil engineers in computing, electrical, electronics, and mathematics, who work exclusively on developing the tool for solving and optimizing strategic mining plans. We already have experience working with major mining companies throughout the world such as Newmont, CODELCO, Barrick, Deswik, among others. In partnership with Deswik, we are developing the Deswik.GO open pit optimization software. We are also working with Deswik and NCL to expand our portfolio of mine type to which we can solve their strategic mine plans.
